A Kingdom to End Kingdoms

King Nebuchadnezzar
Of Babylon
For Jehovah’s purpose
Became a pawn

This king used by God
To demonstrate
How the kings of the earth
He’d annihilate

With perplexing dreams
This man’s sleep was fraught
Which caused him so many
Troubling thoughts

Our God, Jehovah
Was Informing him
Of his plan to bring
Governments to an end

The king’s dream involved
An image Immense
With various metals
This vision intense

Initially there was
A head made of gold
Depicting Babylon
With treasures untold

The King was flattered
Thinking this good
His dream at that time
Was not understood

From six o’ seven
To five thirty nine
The Jews were held captive
The judgement divine

Six o’ seven began
The Appointed times
God’s throne sat empty
Till the Messiah arrived

The chest and the arms
From silver were made
Babylon’s power
Was transferred one day

The Medes and the Persians
Crashed Belshazzars party
By diverting the river
They entered quite smartly

Medo-Persian rule
Lasted 200 years
At times giving aid
Relieving some fears

When Jerusalem’s walls
In ruins lied
King Ahasuerus
Provisions supplied

Nehemiah approached
The king one day
Requesting permission
To go away

The walls were rebuilt
The temple restored
Til’ Rome in the future
Destroyed it once more

The abdomen was
Made of fine copper
Greece at that time
Was quite a show stopper

Alexander the Great
Put up quite a fight
Defeating the Persians
With all of his might

Thirty-two when he died
Then he was no more
His kingdom was split
By his generals….four

30 BCE
This empire ended
And a new one with
God’s people contended

With legs of iron
Standing strong and tall
Rome conquering territories
Some big and some small

Adopting designs
From many cultures
To meet their needs
Building great structures

The roads they designed
Allowed the good news
To be spread far and wide
Their advancements God used

Rome made a huge blunder
Which could not be undone
Appeasing the Jews
Executing God’s son

This powerful empire
Would not last for long
When things fell apart
She was no longer strong

The empire fractioned
Up a new one springs
A small country emerged
Speaking grandiose things

England wasn’t mighty
Nor was it very large
But it had the finances
To be the one in charge

The toes of the image
Made of iron and clay
England would join forces
With America one day

Becoming a dual power
Which is both strong and weak
The United Nations formed
Peace they would seek

That’s a lofty goal
That cannot be attained
Peace among the nations
Can never be maintained

The king of the north
And the king of the south
Pushing and pulling
Yes there is no doubt

Mankind’s governments
They Will never win
God’s kingdom will crush
And bring them to an end

From God’s holy mountain
A giant rock was hurled
The anger of Jehovah
Will soon be unfurled

That rock will smash toes
Bringing the image down
Governments will forever
To powder be ground

God’s kingdom is ruled
By his faithful son
Bringing peace and happiness
For everyone

So spread the word
Campaign for our king
Tell all whom you meet
Of the joy he will bring

He’s king of kings
And lord of lords
Under his kingdom
You’ll never be bored

Waiting patiently til’
That final day comes
When God’s Kingdom ends
All other Kingdoms
