Melchizedek

“In the manner of Melchizedek”
Please tell me what that saying means
The Bible gives us several clues
Let’s search and see what we can glean

In Nineteen Hundred Forty Three
Of the era B.C.E.
Melchizedek comes on the scene
A King-Priest he would be.

Back In ancient Jerusalem
Melchizedek ruled as king
Serving also as high priest
Righteousness and peace he’d bring

Jehovah God appointed him
To be both king and priest
Setting the pattern for one to come
Who would bring eternal peace

When Abraham defeated kings
A tenth of the loot was given
To this king-priest Melchizedek
Faith in his God was proven

Melchizedek blessed Abraham
Bringing out bread and wine
“Blessed be Abram of the most high God”
For doing what was fine

Not much is known about the man
Who served his God so well
There’s no record of genealogy
Or of a successor does it tell

He remained a priest perpetually
In that manner Christ will serve
There’ll be no end to his priesthood
As those faithful will observe

Someday perhaps we’ll meet this man
When we become perfect
For we have got so many things
To teach Melchizedek
