If Ezra had Technology

If Ezra saw Google
What would he think
Research could be done
Quick as a wink

Ancestry.com
Would come in handy too
Chronicling was a passion
He wrote 1 and 2

He had heavy scrolls
Made of parchment
Searching those texts
Was his department

What would he think
If he saw the JW App
You know that he would
Be all over that

A library full of
Thousands of books
So much information
With just a quick look

He wrote his book
In Hebrew and Aramaic
Though both of those now
Are very archaic

If he could see now
How MEPS is digitized
Millions of Copies
On conveyors fly by

In his day he traveled
For hundreds of miles
All of this was
In his notes compiled

How many camels
Do you think it took
To travel that far
With all of his books

Just imagine his thoughts
When you tell him
You had a device
That was really quite slim

It was an “apple”
That you could not eat
Carried in your pocket
Isn’t that neat

In his day the mail
Took months to arrive
Now it’s delivered
Without having to drive

He could have messaged
All of his friends
That he was coming
To Jerusalem

Bringing supplies
For the rebuilding work
Wheat, wine, and oil
And salt from the earth

The priests he entrusted
With bringing the cash
When all he’d need now
Is a handy cash app

Someday we’ll meet him
And then we will see
What Ezra would think
Of this technology
