We Will Not Be Afraid

Fears are a part
Of everyone’s lives
A feeling of panic
On which Satan thrives

He tries to keep us
From making good choices
Due to anxiety
And negative voices

Each one of us has
Our very own fears
God hears our cries
And he sees our tears

He asks us to throw
All anxiety on him
Trusting that he
Will help us to win

We have fine examples
Of those who have showed
How by trusting in him
Those fears we unload

King David seemed
Like a fearless man
As a great warrior
He was known in the land

He Killed a bear
With his own hands
And slayed a giant
Who was making demands

People might think
He had no fear at all
That someone like him
Would just never fall

All David’s strength
And fearlessness
Did not result from
His own greatness

Jehovah supported
The things David did
Allowing him to let go
So that he could win

His fearlessness came
From trusting his Lord
Because of this trust
He gained great rewards

David wrote Psalms
Which describe how he felt
About all his fears
Things with which he dealt

David’s father-in-law
Sought to kill him
King Saul was determined
To see him done in

Hiding in caves
With all of his men
Suffering from hunger
Now and again

For So many years
David had waited
His kingship to come
Just as God stated

Traitors were found
In his household and out
Who could he trust
This caused him to doubt

But there was one
On whom he relied
Jehovah he trusted
For his God never lied

When he was afraid
David called out to him
The Psalms that he wrote
Were Filled to the brim

Having Fears is quite normal
Just stop and pray
For With our God’s help
We will not be afraid!
