Obedience

If Obedience leads to happiness
Why’s it so hard to obey
Humankind tends to be stubborn
And are very set in their ways

Jehovah values obedience
Far Better than a sacrifice
It shows how much we love him
And that for us he paid the price

There are so many ways to show
Our love and trust in him
Each time we face a challenge
And obediently don’t give in

Jehovah provides authority
To step in and take the lead
These ones come in many shapes
And serve to fill a need

We may not always find it easy
These sinful men we must obey
But if we follow God’s instructions
We’ll understand some day

Our parents want what’s best for us
Making rules that we don’t like
But If we choose obedience
It just might save our life

The brothers in the congregation
Make decisions with which we don’t agree
But Our loving God entrusted them
With Protecting us spiritually

Worldly officials may be hardest
Because it isn’t done with love
Yet their direction is still provided
By our loving God above

The services that they provide
Fulfill our basic needs
Taking care of us until the day
When Jehovah takes the lead

So if you feel the urge to fight
Against the rules today
Remember that your loving Father
Asks you to please obey
