The Race for Life

The great race for life
is intensely hard
It may be that we
Think the distance too far

The road may be cramped
And the pathway is small
There are plenty of potholes
We must try not to fall

Perhaps we are carrying
Baggage galore
Can’t seem to let go
But keep adding some more

Do we let our fear
Of going without
The comforts of life
Cause us to doubt?

Do we find it difficult
To Forgive a Friend
Holding on to a grudge
Clear to the end?

Do we tend to feel
it’s really not fair
When our life to others
We choose to compare?

Do we get distracted
By material things
Not focusing on
The trouble it brings?

This race is important
We mustn’t give up
And think it’s impossible
Or just way too tough.

We are not competing
Against our brothers
So please stop to help
All of the others

Let go of the fear
Let go of the pain
Let go of the anger
And I’ll do the same

Let go of the guilt
Let go of the grief
Let go of the tears
For these will be brief.

Let go of the baggage
Leave it all behind
And as you let go
The more joy you will find.

Your load will be lighter
With less things in tow
Your mood will be brighter
With burdens let go

For All who decide
To enter this race
When it is complete
Will win the first place

The reward for your effort
Is eternal life
With peace like a river
In a grand paradise.
