The Betrayal of a Son

Satan isn’t a foreign enemy
He is one of God’s own sons
The family that had lived in peace
Torn apart by selfish ones
Our Heavenly Father felt very hurt
By betrayal from this son
Tragically it took but a moment
For damage to be done
Satan desired honor and worship
That didn’t belong to him
He lied about his heavenly father
Persuading mankind to sin
That traitor doesn’t want man to know
That our God was really right
He told the humans they would not die
Keeping truth from their sight
If this terrible act was not enough
He influenced spirit brothers
Convincing some of them to leave
Now they’re torturing others
Satan doesn’t want our God to win
He’s doing everything he can
Trying many times to trap Jesus
And snare him with his evil plan
If he could get the future king
To come and join his cause
Prophesies would not come true
No one would obey God’s laws
But as many times as he tried
That king could not be touched
There was no temptation to betray
The father that he loved
This obstacle would not prevent
Satan’s desperate attempt
That devil just will not give up
He harbors great contempt
Men want freedom to do as they wish
Not answering to anyone
They don’t realize there’s no such thing
They’re following God’s wayward son
It’s impossible to ride the fence
I’m afraid It just won’t work
The owner of the fence you see
Is really quite a jerk
Anyone who is not on God’s side
Is certainly against him
They fail to see they are enslaved
They cannot escape from sin
You cannot drink of God’s cup
And also that of demons
Only those who obey God’s laws
Will be known as free ones
Someday the battle will be over
And Jehovah will have won
We’ll no longer have to think about
The betrayal of that son
