The Choices of Young Ones

We all have choices to make in this life
Some choices are good and others cause strife
Those who are young have two ways to go
Choosing to follow the people they know
Will the advice serve to benefit them
Or will they will regret it clear to the end
Many examples are found in the Bible
By Pondering them we will be liable
To make good decisions based on the proof
Our God supports those who listen to truth
Jehoash was seven when he became king
Jehoiadah’s advice rich blessings would bring
Unfortunately When the high priest died
With wicked men he chose to abide
Zechariah he murdered for telling him
Of Jehovah’s punishment for all of his sins
If he would have stuck to the things he had learned
He would been blessed and God’s favor been earned.
King Uzziah’s example shows how one mistake
Erases the good, but a moment it takes
Burning the incense was not his place
But it was his attitude that caused him disgrace
All our good deeds don’t mean a thing
If our heart’s not true for our God and king
Josiah was made king when just eight years old
Amongst the wicked he learned to be bold
Tearing down idols…restoring the temple
In reading God’s word he set the example
If only Josiah could have remembered
To petition his God and would have surrendered
Disguising himself he went to war
Through him an enemy’s arrow tore
This tragic event which took his life
Could have been avoided and prevented much strife
So much can be learned from these tragic lives
To stay on God’s side we want to strive
With so much to lose and so much to gain
By making good choices we build a good name
No matter our age… yes young or old
The lessons we learn are treasures untold.
